Josef Seifert

seifertDr. Josef Seifert (Austria, 1945). Founding Director of The International Academy of Philosophy in Texas (1980). An advocate of realist phenomenology, he studied under Robert Spaemann, Balduin Schwarz, Gabriel Marcel and cooperated with Karol Wojtyła. From 1973 to 1980 Seifert was Professor and Director of the doctoral program of philosophy at the University of Dallas. His extensive studies have been focused on metaphysics, epistemology and philosophical anthropology. He is the Founding Editor of an International Journal of Philosophy “Aletheia” and “Studies in Phenomenological and Classical Realism”. As a former student and philosophical heir of Dietrich von Hildebrand, he was entrusted with the posthumous publication of many of von Hildebrand's works. Recipient of the European Union Medal of Merit.
